Who?

Northern Flowerhouse

What are they about?

A campaign to wildflower the North of England

What was the issue?

Scouse Flowerhouse is a local campaign for Liverpool (and the City region) to bring colour to urban areas of Liverpool and in turn inform the public of the ecological benefits of wildflowers as well as giving them information to be able to identify the flowers.

What was the essence of the brief?

Create a local campaign that in itself brought the flowers to urban Liverpool

What was the essence of the solution?

Working with award-winning Liverpool artist Nina Edge we used identifiable flower drawings to take the flowers into the local areas.

What did we need to do?

– Create a “local” bespoke Scouse Flowerhouse ident and graphic system

– Designed and distributed posters/banners into local shops, community centres, places of interest, graphically wildflowering the area

– Design and distributed Plant id guides both as leaflets and site-specific signage

– Created bespoke maps of each planted location

– Ran both event, location and education campaigns across all social media platforms

How did it all turn out?

The campaign was very successful with the public participating widely on social media (as due to the pandemic they couldn’t participate in the original planned events) submitting they’re own photographs to the channels. A guided bike tour sold out in a day, and other council wards have requested to be involved next year and at present, the client is investigating a further eight sites in the city and in the wider Liverpool City Region.

Nonconform’s enthusiasm, local knowledge and flexibility have really helped us to put together a meaningful campaign. They get what we do and translate into graphics with flair and heart, going the extra mile and always willing to bounce ideas around.

Nonconform has been wonderfully supportive to our work and a catalyst for creative thinking for the National Wildflower Centre, and Scouseflowerhouse, they work with a strong sense of people, place and community.
